Which devices does it run on?
iPad with iPadOS 15 or later, Mac with macOS 12 or later, Android tablets, and Windows 10 and 11, each from its store: the App Store, Google Play or the Microsoft Store.
What does it cost?
RailSnap is free to download. Saving to a file, printing and keeping your layout from one session to the next need a monthly or yearly subscription, bought in the app; everything else is free.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. RailSnap works offline. It contacts the App Store, Google Play or the Microsoft Store only to buy a subscription or check it, and remembers it in between.
Where are my layouts kept?
With a subscription, the app keeps the layout you are working on, on your device, between sessions; without one, it is gone when you close the app. Save writes it to a file: on a computer wherever you choose, and on a tablet in a list in the app.
Can I move a layout to another device?
Yes. Save it as a file, copy the file over, and open it there. The file is the same on every device.
Will the layout really fit when I build it?
Every piece has the size and angles its maker gives, and pieces join only where they really fit. When the app works out the track between two ends, it shows how far off each route is, within what real track allows: 2 mm and 1° for C and K track. Check the plan and the parts list before you buy.
How do I cancel my subscription or use it on another device?
Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought them in: cancel them in your App Store, Google Play or Microsoft account settings. On another device signed in to the same store account, open Subscription… in the app’s menu and pick Restore purchases.
Which languages does the app speak?
English, German, Italian and French. It uses your device’s language if it is one of them; pick another in the app’s menu.
Is RailSnap made by Märklin?
No. RailSnap is an independent app. Märklin, Trix, Roco, Piko, Faller, Vollmer and Noch are trademarks of their owners.
